The Beyond the Saddle Herd

  • AJ

    AJ came to us at Beyond the Saddle after retiring from the B circuit jumpers years ago. AJ is the oldest on the farm but he doesn’t know his age! He enjoys running around in the pasture with his pal, Gypsy.

  • Autumn

    Autumn is a beautiful 14 year old grade pony that is resilient and dependable. Autumn came to us from a local rescue. She is friendly, easy to get along with and part of our lesson program.

  • Bella

    Bella is a beautiful, 14 year old Rocky Mountain mare. Bella’s kind nature and steady way of going are a comfort to many.

  • Dune

    Dune is a 6 year old OTTB who came to us through Galloping Out and the Illinois Thoroughbred Aftercare Program . Dune is available for adoption to a light riding/pasture home only.

  • Freya

    Freya is a 7 year old Paint mare out of Hancock lineage. Freya is in training and is owned by our Vice President of Operations, Bethany.

  • Glitter

    Glitter is a miniature pony mare with quite the history; she came to us from a local rescue with her very own police report: pony at large!

  • Gypsy

    Gypsy is an Arabian mare estimated to be in her late 20’s. Gypsy was a part of a 10 horse rescue of Arabians from a local humane society. She has a BIG personality and enjoys romping around outside with her buddy AJ.

  • Indy

    Indy is a Thoroughbred gelding who we estimate to be around 25. He came to us from a local humane society and is widely considered the Beyond the Saddle sentry due to his stoic nature and curiosity with visitors.

  • Jett

    Jett is a 24 year old Paint owned by our barn manager, Aubrie. Jett is the definition of “a good old boy” and makes friends with everyone he meets.

  • Kodiak

    Kodiak is a 20 year old Quarter Horse gelding, owned by our Vice President of Programming, Gretchen. Kodiak enjoys low level classical dressage and being told that he’s the best boy!

  • Luca

    Luca is a 9 year old OTTB that has quickly made his way into the hearts of many! He is steady, kind and a wonderful teacher. Luca is a part of the Illinois Thoroughbred Aftercare Program and Galloping Out.

  • Monty

    Monty is a 25 year old grade gelding that has experience in both hunter/jumpers and dressage. He is well known for his famous “tongue sticking out” pose.

  • Oliver

    Oliver is a seven year old miniature donkey that enjoys creating moments of mischief around the barn, as well as his herd of mini mares, Rosie & Glitter.

  • River

    River is a 6 year old OTTB who came to us through Galloping Out and the Illinois Thoroughbred Aftercare Program . He is available for adoption and will make an incredible sport horse for an advanced rider.

  • Rosie

    Rosie is a miniature pony in her 30’s. She enjoys children, being groomed and romping around the pasture with her pals Oliver and Glitter.

  • Scooter

    Scooter is an OTTB, adopted by Beyond the Saddle from Galloping Out and the Illinois Thoroughbred Aftercare Program in 2025. Scooter loves to play in the snow, meet new visitors over the fence and being a part of the herd.

  • Evie & Sammy

    Evie is a beautiful Golden Retriever who is always ready for a play date at the farm; Sammy is a sweet Cavalier King Charles Spaniel that loves to meet new people and be apart of all the action! Both Evie and Sammy are owned by our founder, Judith Gallo and frequently make guest star appearances around the farm.

  • Nikita & Flint

    Nikita, on the right, is an 11-year-old standard Aussie and our beloved barn dog. Visitors will see her almost daily, faithfully keeping a watchful eye over the farm and greeting everyone with her calm, steady presence. Flint, on the left, is a 2.5-year-old mini Australian Shepherd with a strong work ethic. He’s around less often because he travels as a working dog alongside his dad.

  • Jackson & Savannah

    Jackson & Savannah are our beloved resident farm cats. Jackson, a senior brown tabby, prefers to keep a watchful eye from a distance and values his quiet independence. Savannah, a mature calico, is his social opposite-always the first to greet visitors and happy to make everyone feel welcome. Together, they keep the farm balanced, cared for, and full of character
